  FINALLY
HR called. FINALLY. I just have to complete a drug test and physical and something about a packet they are sending...
oh, and ACLS testing on the 26th. So I'm guessing I'll be starting sometime around there.

Blogging has been great. It's certainly been instrumental in keeping me sane all these months of being home and not being able to leave the house during my "break" (their nap time)

But now it's time to say goodbye.

I have to self-impose a blogging ban because I tend to choose it over more important stuff.
I have less than 2 weeks to get my stuff in order, study for my Pharm final, ACLS exam, and finish my Orientation manual. Above and beyond that, I need to spend every precious moment with my children.
Life is never going to be the same anymore.

Thank you for being there for me through everything.

I love you all!

  Busy as Bees
This weekend is CRAZYYYYY!
Last night we went to the Baptist Convention, which Maui only gets to host once every nine years. And though you may think "oh, yawn," the house was rocking, it was awesome.

Then this morning I did part one of ACLS. It kicked my butt! The instructor didn't just lecture, he always asked me what I would do first. Like, he showed me rhythms on the machine, one being asystole (a flat line) and said "what would you do now?" I started to answer with something wrong (I'd check the leads and make sure they were on good LOL) and he stopped me right there and said "You have to find out if they are a no code or not first!" ugh. They actually had two people this year who was saved when they were not supposed to be. And the family was mad!

Then after was our mission day for the homeless at the harbor, our group ran the games. There was a poor little girl with a broken arm there that everyone just fell in love with so any game she played, she was sure to win or got a prize regardless. Here they are playing the donut-on-a-string game

Then we went out to eat dinner at the Pukalani Country Club for hubbys nephew's bday. (All 11 of us go out to dinner for everyone's bday....except mine, which was completely ignored by this family, but, whatever...)

Tomorrow is church and then Noa will be competing in a Taekwondo tournament.

Oh, and check my side bar out and see if you notice anything new???

I have an Amazon Wish List!! woo hoo! It was so fun to window shop and just say "Hey, I want this!" and click, onto my wish list! It was just like when I was a little girl with those humongous Sears catalogs, I'd sift through it for HOURS, circling the toys I wanted. Now it's a virtual wish list--and just as unlikely to get filled--but at least I have a better chance that someone like, hmmm, maybe Oprah, will happen across my blog and say "Here's someone who's dreams I can make come true!" (or more likely that maybe mom and dad would like some hints on what to get the kids?? buwaaahaahaahaaa)

  Hello, My Name is Earl
Have you seen this show?? The character was a petty criminal all his life, he steals or finds a winning lottery ticket then immediately gets hit by a car. During recovery, he writes a long list of all the people he has wronged and sets out to use his lottery winnings on finding the people on his list and making things right.
What a great idea! Don't we ALL have someone we need to apologize to? Why wait until an unlikely epiphany such as his (something about karma)?
I have such huge apologies to make, and they are all but impossible to accomplish. First, a disclaimer: I AM NOTHING like the person I used to be, that person is dead, okay?
I'm Sorry:
1. To a trucking company in California. A good friend asked me to be a reference for her drug-abusing snake of a boyfriend who was applying for a job as a trucker and I felt obligated to say yes. When the company called me, I vouched for him and lied about his character. The dummy then ran off with a truckload full of T.V.'s. That company lost thousands of dollars worth of stuff because of me. Had I told the truth, he wouldn't have gotten the job and been able to do that.
2. To various victims on Oahu, sometime in the late 80's. (To maintain the impeccable prom queen reputations of my high school friends, I have to say this was NOT my usual group of friends.) A sister of a friend from one of my classes started to date a gang member and somehow I got involved with them (becoming close friends with the sisters) and these guys had no sense of morals whatsoever. This is perfect proof to me that at this age, peer pressure conquers all. I was with them--sometimes driving--while they jumped innocent people for no reason, they would just say "stop the car!" and they'd jump out, beat up a stranger, and jump back in the car. Once, they robbed the newspaper guy and used the money for us to rent a hotel room, where they busted in windows of rental cars in the parking structure to take bags. That time of my life is full of regret. I am SORRY. I can't even comprehend the random viciousness of these awful guys.
3. To E.L. Okay, this is high school. This guy, he had a fate worse than a Nobody, he was a Somebody Whose Name Everyone Knew because he was such a nerd and he was teased. Once, during class, I don't know what happened (probably I accidentally stepped on his foot and said sorry?) he replied "That's okay, I don't feel pain."
I was like "What? You don't feel pain? How can that be? Do you feel THIS?" and pinched him or something. He said no. So I tried something else. He insisted he felt no pain. I involved someone else "Hey! Check this out! E.L. says he doesn't feel pain!" so this person hits him and so on. More people get involved, and within minutes, he is surrounded by people who are progressively adding on more tortuous tests of his pain threshold. I remember his ears being fire red from someone punching them repeatedly. Even then I felt bad about it, but didn't show it. WHERE oh where was the teacher? Poor kid. He got thoroughly thrashed
Because
of
me.
My heart breaks for him everytime I think of it. I tried to look him up about ten years ago, but there are MANY E.L.'s in the phone book.

There are so many more examples, that's just the first three I thought of.
I don't blame you if you think less of me. Just know that is NOT me now. I would literally give my right arm to take everything back, for it to never have happened. I wish people from back then knew that...I am different now. A New and Improved Sandy! And I am sorry.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" 2 Corinthians 5:17

Go ahead and leave your own confession here if you feel a burden to share, and perhaps you CAN apologize to the people you've hurt. Wouldn't that feel great?

  Some Honesty, People
Seriously, are these shoes freakin' cute or freakin' ugly???

I fell in love with them at the store. I had to have them so much that I even went with half a size larger because they didn't have any in my size.
I mean, I didn't have any rounded-toed shoes and that's the thing this season, right? If you're going to get round-toe shoes, is this not the most adorable pair?!?
So I got them.
As soon as I went out with them in public, I got instantly self-conscious. They look like old lady shoes. I went back and forth from feeling fabulous to feeling frumpy
But they are SO comfortable.
So, in all honesty, do you think these are cute or ugly? Would you wear them?
Don't tell me it's how I feel about them that matters, I wanna know how you feel about them! Do you wanna steal them from me...or throw rocks at them?

  Owie

Poor hubby crashed on his moped on his way home from work.
Was this supposed to be practice for my ER nursing?
It didn't work...I just sent him to clean himself up in the shower
Where he is now making all kinds of wailing and owie-ing
while I blog about his pain
I'm gonna go make his boo-boos all better now...

  Cat lady
The church secretary asked me to paint some cats on her luggage as she's about to go to Disneyworld and she wants to recognize her bags quickly in baggage claim.
I had her suitcases sitting around for about a month and finally got around to it yesterday...and it only took me one day to get it done! I'm so happy, that's one more thing off my list...
aren't they cute little kitties?

Me and Elmo Have Something In Common
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Any sight or sound of Elmo will make the twins stop WHATEVER they are doing to watch him. Elmo is their all-time favorite.
As I was flipping through the channels this morning, I landed on a news channel showing a large costumed Elmo and said "Hey look! There's Elmo!"
The twins stopped beating each other up to see him, and there was Elmo waving to tourists and posing for photographs.
Then the next clip showed him with his head on a police car and his hands behind his back, HANDCUFFED.
My eyes widened in horror and my first instinct was to protect my little innocents and quickly change the channel, but my curiosity won and we watched him get arrested. I decided at that moment that hey, if Elmo's got a history, it's okay that I have one too : ) hehehe.
So I started to rag him, from one criminal to another, and now Z can say
"El-mo got a-rres-ted! El-mo is a cri-min-al!"

  Twiddling Thumbs
Still. Waiting. By. The. Phone.
Why haven't they called yet?
I NEED this job.
My mortgage company just sent us a notice saying we owe over $3,000 for a mistake that I don't even know who made...and they want it within a month! (Yes, I wrote and asked them to please send me a copy of the papers they found the errors on)
So, as much as I want time to slow down so I can finish all my projects before starting work, I also need to start getting paid immediately.
What I haven't been talking about lately is 40 Days of Community...(remember, it is the next installment of 40 Days of Purpose from the book by Rick Warren called A Purpose Driven Life? If you don't know what I am talking about--run now to a bookstore and get that book, it is life-changing : )
We have a group that meets at my house every week for the study, and they are coming again tonight so we can plan our outreach project for the homeless at the harbor. Many people living there are families. Our church is doing a mission project there on November 20, and my small group signed up for games. There will be a bento meal, games, clean up, and distribution of food, hygiene kits, cookware, carpets, and bedding. The mayor is even going to show up (for a photo-op.)
I've been really busy with that, being on the Comm. team, painting all the banners, and school.
I don't know how I can continue with all that when I start work, so I was hoping I could start after it wraps up.
That is if HR ever calls me.
(I already called the other job to decline because I thought it would be rude to string her along and keep her hanging.)
Everytime the phone rings, I jump for it in hopes it is HR.
Now I am like a date that is being stood up,
feeling sad and hopeless.
Worse yet, the ER boss set up my certifications to be taken tomorrow, and I have to pay around $300 for the two, so I don't want to do it if they aren't hiring me!
Darn it, I am just gonna call them myself already.
Wish me luck

And because this post is as boring as can get (I just needed to vent), I am closing comments so you won't feel obligated to think of something to say! Go on now, move along, go find yourself a funny blog...

Where's Mary Poppins When You Need Her?
We're back to the old childcare problem again.
I can't work nights until I am working on my own, at least 3-6 months from starting.
So, though it's temporary, we need childcare.
I've called every single licensed childcare provider (and even some recommended unlicensed) and they are ALL full. They even have waiting lists. There's nowhere else to turn!
SOoooOOoooOOO....

Hubby is taking leave from work for three months! He will be a Stay-At-Home-Dad!!

I am so excited, I will not have to worry about how the babies are doing all day long. Yayyyyy! How cool is that? I have my own MISTER Poppins. He is so supportive of me, I can't believe it. He's even cooking us all breakfast as I blog. hee hee hee

Also, it's inevitable that I will be blogging less. Already I am overwhelmed, just with studying stuff like ER meds and re-learning EKG rhythms. (They sent me home with a binder of info and tests to take) This Saturday I have certification classes for BLS and ACLS.

All that and I haven't even heard from HR yet!

Which makes me really worry. Because it turns out, I DO have a criminal history I forgot about. I had gone to get my background check for the other job, and couldn't believe my eyes when that page wasn't blank.

STUPID TEENAGE MENTALITY!!
My mantra way back when was "Who cares?"
I had a junk-a-lunk-a car I got for 200 dollars (50 dollars off because I won the owner--my friend--a hand of Rummy for the discount, but then he won a game for dinner at Sizzler from me so maybe we were almost even again!)
ANYWAY...
I had parked it up the street for a few days while I had access to another (better) car. When I passed by my car, I saw a ticket on it.
I looked at what my violation was and it said AV--abandoned vehicle.
I was like "I didn't abandon my car! I'm not gonna pay this!" and basically threw the ticket away.
Wellll
When I had to get my drivers' license renewed a couple of years later, they said there was a bench warrant for my arrest, I was like "What? Why?" and it was because I didn't pay or show up for court.
So I got "arrested" meaning just processed and fingerprinted but all I had to do was pay and leave.
Now it's on my permanent record! And no, there is no explanation that I was a stupid teenager that just didn't care about anything, it says "Contempt of Court"
I can imagine all the HR heads looking over this saying "Do we want a criminal working in the ER?"
lol.
Stupid teenage mentality!

Does This Mean I am All Grown Up Now?
I'm 34 today.
Shoot, I'm getting old.
What does it take to be a grown up? I certainly don't feel it.
But I have a husband, four kids, a house, a mini van, and my dream job.
That just screams maturity.
Oldness may be taking me, but not I am not going willingly. It's dragging me kicking and screaming towards my ultimate demise.
When am I too old to have long hair?
Or to shop at Forever 21? (ummm, does the name of the store mean I have to be 21?)
Or to watch ridiculously silly shows on MTV?
Maybe if I watch enough Laguna Beach I can stay younger longer. Speaking of LB in tonight's episode, WTH was Jason thinking???
Okay, feel free to sing to me now....
