Aloha 2006...
Christmas went really well. The kids were so happy with the presents they got that they forgot to gripe about what they
didn't get, lol.

Oldest son led the twins outside to their Diego Jeeps...

which they had to learn how to drive because it went a bit too fast for them at first. Lookit the cute detachable backpacks! It took a while for them to understand that these are NOT bumper cars.

A few nights later, I caved in and got the almost-twice-the-cost-as-last-time-tickets to see Wayne Brady, who is my favorite comedian. Hubby and I made a date of it, hiring a sitter and going out to dinner beforehand. It was worth it. I love me some Wayne Brady!
All in all, I worked 32 hours of overtime these past two weeks. The jury is still out on whether the extra money will be worth it. Yesterday afternoon I woke up after working all night and the house was empty, they spent the day fishing so I could sleep in peace. Well, they came home all happy and excited from their day of fishing but the first thing E told me was "Mommy, I cried for you while you were at work."
Could anything be more heartbreaking than that?
Worse still, I got infected with Baby Fever again. Man! I can go months and months being okay then something will set it off again, this time being in Macy's and coming across an adorable rose blush baby dress with delicate little flowers embroidered on it with ribbons, and ohhhh, the misery of not having a girl! When I returned to the play area where hubby was watching the twins, I whispered in his ear "Isn't it fabulous to know you have the ability to give me something to make me utterly happy and complete?" He didn't look confused at all, he laughed because he knew exactly what I was talking about.
Tick tock, goes my clock...
SooOOoo, among the annual regulars of my New Years resolutions such as losing 10 pounds and exercising more (yawn), I add not working as much and somehow, someway, convincing hubby that we
really DO need another mouth to feed in our house. hehehe.
Happy New Year and be safe!
Secret Santa
Can you believe it?! It's already Christmas Eve!
I'm picking up a lot of overtime this week, including splitting a shift with another nurse tomorrow so we can both have part of Christmas with our families.
The problem is, most of the gifts we have for the kids require a lot of assembly...so unless we can somehow magically put everything together undetected tonight, they'll have mostly just boxes to play with tomorrow. The twins have matching Diego Jeeps. I can't WAIT to see their eyes pop when they see it.
We played Secret Santa at work. I got a Doctor. I was like, oh great, what in the world do I get for him?
I realize that anytime I've talked about any docs at work, it's about the ones that have made me cry or intimidated me but the one whose name I got is the BEST Doctor, I just completely love working with him because he makes working easy--all the patients love him, and he never lets on that he thinks I am as stupid as a rock, lol.
I mulled it over for weeks. I've heard he likes red wine, but I know NOTHING about wine. I know he likes to read, but choosing the right book is hard. Then one day, another Doctor was teasing him about the gaping hole in his lab coat pocket and the lightbulb went on over my head. It took me a few days of sneaking around to find his coat hanging somewhere to get the size and style, etc. And when I finally got around to ordering it, no one could get the embroidering done by Christmas. I was really disappointed about that because he'd think he got nothing from his Secret Santa. The night before it was time to turn in the gifts, I was fretting over how I would tell him his present would be late when I little poem formed in my head and it was too silly not to do it. I printed it out with a picture of his lab coat and gave it to him with a little gift in a bag. As a testament to how nice he is, he said he was grateful for the gift but said the poem was enough ROFL.
So, without further ado, here's the silliest Christmas poem you've ever heard:
'Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the ER
ALL the creatures were stirring
especially the mouse--hardy har har
Out of the locker room
there arose such a clatter
I opened the door
to see what was the matter
A hungry mouse in your pocket
Lamenting "No food to be found-
I just ate a little of this jacket
'bout one inch around!"
Giving the mouse stink eye
I tossed him a cannoli
"Leave Dr. G's coat alone-
Now it's all Ho-ho-holey!"
Your Secret Santa put in the order
The elves went to work right away
Creating you a nice new coat
but sorry it can't get to you by today : (

*snort*
how corny is that!?
Well...I have so much to do today that I am sitting here paralyzed by the thought of it. Step one, get off the computer. So adios, and Merry Christmas once again!

We went to the ER Christmas party this year:

...And then I had to work the next morning. Suffice it to say I had a very miserable work day.
I've been really busy at work since 4 people are out for various reasons and plus it's the busy season. It's exhausting. Five days left until Christmas and I still haven't finished my Christmas shopping. This season has been more stressful than anything. gah.
I found my Christmas present from hubby in the oatmeal box. I wasn't looking for it, I just came across his hiding place by chance. It's the new mini iPod shuffle. I just love it. I can tune everyone out when I listen to it, lol.
So now that I finally have my own MP3 player, I can do the meme from Tee's blog:
Instructions:
1. Open your library on your MP3 player
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button

Well, the kids, hubby, and I are all off tomorrow, a rare event indeed. I have high hopes to go to my favorite beach, though I'm willing to bet that I will be overruled again--in favor of another, more homicidal spot. *sigh*
Merry Christmas everyone in blogland!
