Now the Fun Begins....
Yes, Dad, it's payback time.
Oldest son got his drivers permit...(hooray, really!) While I am excited, I am also remembering the days of worrying my folks too much. I remember asking Dad if I could borrow his car to pick up my pictures from the store. He said okay and I drove off, feeling like a million bucks in his sports car and decided it'd be more fun with a friend, who I picked up at home, then we decided to drive an hour to a beach and go "cruisin'" Hours later, I got home and boy was Dad HOPPING MAD. He was worried, but also really upset, something about missing a meeting. Oops. Did I ever say sorry?
Sorry.
A million times sorry!

Oldest son drove us home from the DMV, and he said he was surprised I wasn't freaking out more about his driving. I DID have that pressing-the-non-existent-brake-pedal-on-my-side thing going on, but he wasn't so bad.
At work, I got my camera out of my locker because there was a patient with a terrible fracture and I said "you should get a picture of this!" The patient wanted one to show to family members so I took the picture (while thinking...wouldn't that be a profitable side business? To have a mini inhouse portrait studio and sell the pictures I take "to save your memories of your injuries forever!" LOL, just kidding...) Then I left my camera on my desk and a coworker took this one of me on the sly. I look like I am sleeping, but I'm working. Really, I am!

(I'm posting this picture because it made me feel better--I like it over all the other ones I saw today. A coworker had pics from the fundraiser party we went to and I had double chins and massive arms in every one, I felt so disgusted.)
The whole family is off tomorrow so I'm looking forward to a beach day. Hope y'all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend : )
Swap Lives?
Somehow I scored 6 days off in a row so we've been having a fantastic time. Took the boys to the park to slide down hills on cardboard and they had an impromptu Karate Kid session

Saturday I was taxi driver and cinematographer for the boys and their friends. This is oldest son at Big Beach

The twins had their first official play date. They played waterballoons. Which one do you think got creamed with Z's waterballoon?

Last night we had a fundraiser dinner/silent auction for a fellow nurse who has cancer. In the corner there was a poker table where all proceeds went to the cause so of course we had to play : ) I love the look on hubby's face in this picture...what is he thinking??

All in! Or awww man, I fold...
Hubby got a message on his MySpace, they are looking for a local family to have on the show Wife Swap. He told me about it, we laughed at the possibility then let it go, thinking it probably wasn't real anyway. Then while getting the surf report online a few days ago, there was an ad for the show saying the same thing. I looked at hubby and said "I'm going to apply just for fun, see if we're picked."
They replied today, with a much lengthier questionnaire than the first one. Should I or shouldn't I? lol. I feel crazy for even considering it. Can you imagine the entire country being able to know all about us, good and bad? (umm...nothing like publishing a public blog, no...not at all...lol) Plus, don't they focus on the bad stuff? Like how messy my house is, maybe? Or how darn lazy I am? The only good things I can think of is the $ from it and that maybe I could learn something from the other family, like organization, more discipline for the kiddos. My worst fear is they'd send me to a farm where I'd have to kill cows or something, ROFL. Wellll, what do you think?
Cheep Cheep!
Last night, after celebrating our nephews birthday at a restaurant, we headed to my workplace instead of home to get our two new little girls:

Oldest son noticed we weren't headed towards home so he asked "Where are we going?"
Hubby replied "We're going to pick up some chicks."
I could help but laugh at that. "It's been a LOOONG time since you've said that, huh!"
lol
The darker one will lay blue eggs. I don't know if I can eat blue eggs. I tried eating green eggs once, I made it with some green ham for Dr. Suess day and it was just food coloring but still, I just couldn't do it!
Traumatized
We're baaAAack! #1 good thing about this trip to Disneyland was how many characters were out and about and so easily accessible. We got pictures with SO many, more than all the other times
combined! Disneyland with very young children is such a different experience, though

Once again, I lose my chance for Mother-of-the-Year award. Darnit, and so close to Mothers' Day! What's wrong with my brain, that I forget major details? Well, the first time it wasn't my fault. We walked through the castle and saw there was no line for a ride I have never gone on. So we go right in and it was way too spooky for the kiddos (Snow White, I think?) They got upset, I soothed them with promises of "No more scary rides, no more, okay?" Then promptly lose all credibility by taking them to Honey I Shrunk the Audience, which I recall as being really funny. Oops, forgot about the snake and tiger that come at you in 3D...they cried again, I promised them no more scary and yet AGAIN took them on a scary ride...remember Pirates of the Caribbean? Yeah, all I remember from it is the pirates having a grand ol' party singing "Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirates life for me!" Yes, after having ridden it a zillion times throughout my childhood, I had completely forgotten the dark swamp, steep drops, and "DEAD MEN TELL NO LIES" or whatever the freaky voice keeps saying. My poor, poor twins. And they kept trusting me and I kept failing them. What is with Disney and all the evil?!?!

So Small World it was then. Twice.

And other kiddie rides and walking around, playing tourist. I spent a lot of time with the twins in Bug's Life area of California Adventure while the other guys went riding. Almost took them to the 3D Bug's Life show, parked the strollers and everything, then recalled it was TOO SCARY and diverted their attention to another ride and thought, whew! that was a close one...
Then at Universal Studios all their dreams came true...they met Dora and Diego!

Silly Diego kept taking off my friend's Disneyland hat and did things like walk it over to security, pretending it was against the rules. So I'm glad they didn't notice my twins Mickey Mouse crocs! Aren't they the cutest things? (well, for ugly shoes they sure are cute)

Once again, I traumatized the twins by taking them to Shrek's 4D show, thinking, well Shrek's a funny guy, they'll love it. They didn't love it. Not even a little bit. No sirree. A headless horsemen type guy, a ghost, two fire breathing dragons and way too much action broke my promise of "no more scary" I felt so incredibly bad. (What makes things worse is I had just seen it 1 1/2 years ago and didn't remember it was scary...)
So we spent the rest of the day at the SpongeBob area, which they completely loved. As we walked back there, Dora walked up to Z, who still had tears running down his cheek, and I explained to Dora that Z was scared from the Shrek show, she bent down and hugged him and through her costume she was making kissy sounds. She totally cheered him up. I love Dora! The SpongeBob area was the place to be... the playground, the water play, the foam ball room, holy smokes that was really fun, even for me!

Yes, we brought more kids than originally planned, haha. And yes, middle son had fun too. He's just going through a stage of never smiling for a picture.

I know it may sound like they had a bad time, but no, they really had a great time overall, and keep asking to go back. There were no lines so we got to do so many rides. They loved the Buzz Lightyear ride, we did that at least three times. I had to explain to my friend that she had no idea how lucky she was there were no lines anywhere and she got to do most of the park in just one day. I remember times of having to wait 2 hours in line just for ONE ride! (and that was before Fast Pass)
Biggest bad points were the high costs of everything and the COLD. Oh, so cold at night!
But it was well worth it. I'll never do Disneyland at a peak time again, this time was so nice : )
