  Dismissed
I know that all I write anymore is just sunshine and fluff. It used to be easy for me to share my heart on here, when it felt like a close community, because I'd go visiting blogs daily and I felt like I knew everyone so well. I know it's my fault because I'm not really into it anymore.
But there's something weighing so heavily in my life right now that I just need to talk about it.
My littlest son, the younger twin, was born with a ridge along his head. I brought it up to the pediatrician, who dismissed it as being from birth, that he'd outgrow it.
He never did.
I brought it up a couple more times, because as his skull grew, it only grew in one direction--lengthwise--never wider. So he has a narrow head and the ridge has gotten more pronounced. Imagine his skull line peaked like a little mohawk. That's what it's like. My pediatrician kept on dismissing my worry.
Well he retired and on Friday I took the twins for their annual physical and brought it up with his new doctor, who replied that she could tell just by looking at him and said "This should have been taken care of before he turned one." I was floored. I couldn't believe it! I was so disappointed in my old doc for not listening to me, for not diagnosing it correctly so we could have had it fixed in the optimum time, when his skull was soft and easy to work with.
What he has is called Craniosynostosis, where his skull fused too early and so it can't grow correctly. Below is a picture of exactly the problem he has on the right.

Now we are possibly faced with major surgery, but I don't know. We are flying to Oahu this week to see the Pediatric Neurosurgeon and we'll see what he says. I am still weighing my options. Every single article I've read has mentioned the psychological damage done to children that did not get it fixed, because they are teased by other children and have to grow up not looking normal. We have to decide whether the pain and suffering will be worth it either way. Pain from surgery or pain from a lifetime of looking different? Because his skull is still growing, and it will only continue to grow longer and not wider. I have no idea how that will look as an adult. So far, only children have commented to me about his head. That is, until I started telling my friends about what's going on and now they tell me they noticed too (but adults are too polite to say anything!)

Below is a profile pic of both of them, he is on the right, see the difference? I'll try and get better close up pics, I usually toss the obvious ones.

Please keep Isaiah in your prayers, mostly that he won't need surgery.

Thank you

  Thanks for dropping by...
...all two loyal readers that haven't given up on me and still come by to check for an update! lol. (that would be my parents)
San Fran pics are stuck on the other camera. That's okay, you've seen the Golden Gate bridge before, I'm sure.
There was so much I wanted to show you, though. The eggs that Mele is finally producing, our bananas that grew so big and heavy it broke the plant it was growing on, and my Lola finally gave us two mangoes. It was a month of fruitfulness.
We have a new camera though, one that doesn't mind transmitting its images to computer. That probably means more blogging : )
On Thursday, we had a mini pre-baby-shower shower for my friend. I was tired of all the same old shower games so I tried all new ones (new to me, anyway), with some pretty hilarious results.
Here the rule was to suck the bottle dry. The girls were hesitant until they found out it was beer--not apple juice--in there, then we got a winner within seconds (she unscrewed the top off to chug it, rofl!)
This game was my favorite because watching them made me laugh so hard I cried. I mixed up ten pairs of socks in a bag and dumped it onto the table, the girls (three at a time) had to match them up. We ended up having to make a rule that you had to fold them and only grab one pair at a time and not hoard them, lol.
It was a great night catching up with old friends.
And now some twin cuteness for your viewing pleasure:
E reading a book

Z likes to listen to my iPod. Here he took it from me then found a cozy spot to listen.
Coming up: Our 13th Wedding Anniversary!
We both took a week off, and all the kids are off that week, but we have no ideas of what to do or where to go???
I want to do something we don't usually do
I want to go somewhere fun and different. Any ideas? (He already said no to a cruise, Australia, and Tahiti.)
If we don't hurry and plan something we'll just end up doing nothing : (

  Bday and Surf Contest
Middle son had his 10th bday party, receiving enough cash-ola to buy himself a nice green iPod and he also scored great gifts like The Dangerous Book for Boys and cool clothes and toys. He just loved it. Here he is about to blow out the candles when Z decided to help him out and sprayed his waterballoon onto the cake! Everyone went awww man but they all ate it anyway!
Here the girls are preparing their waterballoon ambush on the boys
The twins entered their first surf contest. I have no photos of them surfing because hubby and I had to be in the water with them...one to push them onto the wave and the other to catch. How cute is that? Here's Z later on his bodyboard. Pretend he's on a longboard and catching a wave and there you go.
Here they are resting after their heat, wearing their new contest t shirts. They loved the whole idea of it. Next year they might actually be good enough to place : ) Practice, practice, practice!
Oldest son going out for his heat. This reminded me of the days where we'd go to contests and wait for the pro surfers to pass by to get their picture just like this, we'd be squealing "Oooh! There's Pottz! There's Curren! Get a picture, quick!" The twins are bottom right, who is that with their hand on Z's head? lol, they make friends wherever we go.
Here's oldest son on a wave.
The only ones to advance were hubby and middle son in the tandem division. They didn't even practice even with weeks of cajoling from me and they actually placed in the finals anyhow. You can click on pic to see better if you're going blind like me.
I think this one is from the repo heat (with the yellow jersey, they had to surf three heats)

And at the awards. They took 5th place and got trophies and watches again this year.
Tomorrow I'm off to San Francisco for a conference for work. I'll be back with pics and memories!
