maui mama
yes, I'm alive!
When I don't post for a long time then I have so much to say that I don't know what to say.
Oldest son graduated from high school.

Middle son is going to 7th grade, twins are 7 years old and headed to 2nd grade. I know, so fast.
I got the job with the ambulance and love it. I work that one almost as much as my ER job, sometimes more. It says I haven't posted since December 2008! What's new since then? Everything! But first, I wanna go catch up with reading blogs instead of posting. lol. brb
pau!
At long long last! Class is over and I just passed my last exam two days ago : ) We have to wait until Jan-Feb to interview for a job.

Now that the school madness is over, and the Holiday spirit is allowed to settle in...I'm feeling grinchy for not doing Christmas cards this year and I'm feeling so rushed for not having all my shopping done : ( Hope I can get it all done in time.
Also am feeling the travel bug, I want to snowboard!! This weekend is my graduation but NEXT weekend I'm going somewhere...broke or not!
A post in November
What? I have to post more than once a year? You guys are so demanding! nah nah, I
have been feeling some blog neglect guilt.
Let's see...what's been going on? At the moment I am busy as EMT Intern 5 days a week. It'll all be over the middle of December. Whew! Word out is that they are only hiring ten people, including those interviewing from Oahu so I have about 1 out of 2 chance of getting a job with them : ( plus, I had a pretty crappy experience today so I'm feeling kinda bummed about it.
This is my class on Halloween day. My instructor dressed up in the Manikin's gear and sat slumped in the corner like he was the manikin. It was really funny seeing everyone's reaction when he moved!

Last Thursday, middle son's school entered a song contest. His school swept first place in all divisions. It was so beautiful hearing them sing.

Then Friday I flew to Vegas with the kids for my Uncle's funeral. (He was in a very bad car accident in May and finally succumbed to the terrible injuries two weeks ago : (

big cousins bonding over silliness

It was a whirlwind weekend and yesterday was a very long day traveling home with miserable airport delays and tired children, but it was well worth spending time with family that I hardly get to see.
So that's all going on in my life...thanks for asking : )
Stir It Up
The car radio was playing Bob Marley's "Stir It Up" and he's singing, "come on and stir it up," it's pretty repetitive so the twins start singing along too, except their version goes "Come home I'm serious, come home I'm serious, come home I'm serious, we've got homework to do..."
Labor Day and Stuff
Daily schedules have been incredibly tight since everyone is back in school now...
It seems like a neverending grind--wake up go school/work, come home and do homework, eat, bathe, get ready for the next day, go sleep--wake up and do it all over again. So it was really an extra special super duper fun three day Labor Day weekend! We went camping at the beach, where the twins found their love for hammocks :

an ingenious ice cream truck stopped by and made a killing off of all of us hot, thirsty campers in need of some refreshment :

middle son, my nature boy went diving and got inked by one of his catches

and best of all, I got some water time. It seems that the longer I go without it, the less motivation I have to go and so it was really really nice to get back in and catch some fun little waves.

Meanwhile, school has been really stressful but fun. Learning lots of new things, like how to take people out of cars after an accident:

If you didn't know any better you'd think I only had three boys because there's never any mention of oldest son anymore. He's just at a phase where he's too old/cool to hang out with us anymore and he spends every waking moment in the water with his friends. Though it's frustrating because he doesn't want to do anything else, I'm happy to know that at least he has the discipline to dedicate himself so wholly to something and work towards being the best he can be at it...he's winning contests and even got sponsored by a bodyboard company:

Though as his mother I have to wonder how will that help him get a career or get him thinking about his future...it's pretty frustrating but oh well, right? Hubby said it's hard because he sees his parents like to have fun a lot too so what can I say? He's doing well in school at least.
Good news to end this post... today we finally sold that darn gas guzzlin' monster of a truck we had! Remember two years ago when I wanted to surprise hubby with the truck of his dreams? It turned out to be SUCH a nightmare...especially when diesel went up to $5.50 a gallon! I mean, I really put NO thought into it, I just thought, this is what he wants, I'll get it for him. Little did I know it was way too much truck for us. I mean, we don't have a boat or a horse to tow, why did we need so much power? It just was so costly after the gas was so high it was ridiculous so GOOD RIDDANCE! Now we can breathe easier and get some necessities...like a new icebox. with french doors! and an icemaker! and gallon sized door shelves!! We got four growing boys and our tiny little icebox that is leaking needs to be upgraded. But now I'm just rambling. Ok, off to read blogs now. goodnight : )
What did YOU do yesterday?
Yesterday I went to see an autopsy as part of my EMT class. It was a young-ish woman who died unexpectedly. The most unnerving part was all in my head. I'm not squeamish in the least so what bothered me the most was how it applied to me...I was thinking to myself, "just yesterday this lady was sitting down drinking coffee, worried about her mortgage bill and complaining about her husband's dirty laundry on the floor. Little did she know that in 24 hours she'd be dead, laying butt naked on a cold steel table with her gut split wide open and organs sliced into pieces" That easily could have been me...I had to ask myself, did I do the most I could do with the time I had yesterday? What would I have done differently if I had known that would be my last day on earth? I know it's cliche but TRULY we need to live each day to the fullest, never knowing when our time will come.
Just a little food for thought.
Something funny...when I took the twins to school today, Isaiah's teacher told me that yesterday ELIJAH was in her classroom playing before school, and the bell rang, and the children lined up but he didn't. So she was calling him "Isaiah, time to get in line" and he didn't even look up or answer her. Over and over she called him, getting more frustrated, "ISAIAH, IT'S TIME TO LINE UP!" and he just would not acknowledge her. Then finally Isaiah spoke up from the line and said "That's Elijah" hahahaha!
Also, this was the first day Elijah did not cry at school. He does fine in class but cries when it's lunchtime because he "can't find his kumu" (teacher) and there's children everywhere, I think he is overwhelmed and feels lost. But today he said his brother ate with him and he was fine. I hope they will let that happen everyday. I feel bad for him because Isaiah is adjusting just fine, but it seems like Elijah needs him for comfort.
I feel bad, I have no new pictures to share : ( next time for sure ok!
like, whoa
Has it really been TWO MONTHS since my last post? E kalamai (sorry)
We've been keeping real busy as usual. Took a quick trip to 110 degree heat and visited mom in Las Vegas. Walked the strip WITH the twins since my friend has never been there. Spent most of that time carrying one or the other twin. Oh yeah, did I mention it was over a HUNDRED DEGREES?? That was craziness. After that night, all I had to say was "we're going for a long walk" to get the twins to stay home with grandma while we went shopping because they were so DONE with walking.

Then we had a first family reunion on hubby's side. It was a lot of fun. Lots of catching up and going "who's that again?" (we're bottom right)

I had two week-long gigs at a hotel this summer as a nurse for a school program, only passing meds twice a day and being on call all night. This left us long lazy days at the pool. It was so awesome. They paid for my hotel and two all-you-can-eat meals a day. Needless to say, I'm about 15 lbs over now : (

The last day of the second one was the twins 5th birthday. We had some friends come spend the day with us and even a new friend from the pool gave them gifts and ate with us.

Now the countdown begins. I've enrolled the twins in VBS for the week so now I can get some serious errands done. School supplies, paperwork etc. Not just for them, but for me! Yes, I'm happy to say, I got accepted into the EMT program and it starts in 8 days! It'll be pure madness around here with so many of us being so busy. I was so excited when an ambulance passed by with its sirens wailing and I got to tell the kids, mommy's going to school so I can do that too! haha! I can't wait!
